The following general information may be helpful in understanding the philosophy and production details that go into each SSPA show.
Schedule: During auditions, specific categories are usually broken down. For instance, if you are a dancer, we will notify you of an additional audition. You may not need to be at every rehearsal. We will do our best to use your time efficiently. Younger children will be at fewer rehearsals than the rest of the cast. Of course the week or days before performance will be a different rehearsal schedule; you will need to be flexible for that short period of time and you MUST attend all technical and dress rehearsals.
Fees: Producing Theater is expensive and instead of asking the cast to fundraise, we ask for an upfront contribution. If you cannot afford the fee, please let us know and we can try to work something out – perhaps you can sell ads for our program or contribute in some other way. Partial scholarships may be available as well. 3rd graders, 4th graders, and dancers pay $100 and will need to furnish some of their own costumes. Everyone else pays $175, and will need to furnish basic costume elements, such as shoes, tights, etc. (Please let us know if you know of any person or organization that would be interested in sponsoring this, and would therefore reduce the fee for each cast member.)
Fees are subject to change with each production.
Attendance: If you accept your role unconditionally, you are agreeing to be available for all scheduled rehearsals and a performance. If you cannot attend a rehearsal, you MUST notify us in advance so we can try to work around you but you risk having your role re-cast; no-shows will automatically lose their part.
